Baptism

Baptisms

Belonging, feeling God's presence and receiving His blessing for life – the sacrament of baptism offers all this and much more!

If you would like to have your child baptised or are thinking about baptism yourself, please get in touch with the Parish Office as early as possible in order to discuss the conditions and details.

Baptisms usually take place during our church services. It is therefore necessary to arrange your desired date as early as possible. Of course, the baptismal conversation and the baptism in the service can also be held in English.

Godparents

Please remember that when children are baptised at least one godparent must be a Protestant. Up to four godparents can be named, but they must all belong to a Christian church. Godparents need a godparent's certificate from the parish office at the godparent's place of residence (free of charge).

Baptism talk

We would be happy to arrange an appointment with you for a baptismal conversation. Everything else can then be clarified in this conversation. We would be happy to visit you!

Confirmations

Confirmations

Are you interested in Confirmation?

As we are a small church community, we hold a confirmation course once every two years. The next group will begin with a Camp from 25 - 31 July 2027, which will take place in and around the vicarage in Cambridge. Children and young people from all around the UK will gather there to prepare for Confirmation in Spring/Summer 2028. Following the camp we will continue to meet on approx. 6 weekends (with overnight stay) joining the East England congregation in Cambridge.

Our confirmation classes are mainly held in German but can be made bilingual as well. Costs are primarily covered by our congregation or by the synod, therefore we ask that at least one parent is (or becomes) a member of our church.

Close Up of Pink Roses

Memorial services and funerals

A loved one, a close relative has passed away. In this difficult time of farewell and grief, we offer our support. If you would like a funeral service in German or English, or if you would like the pastor of the German parish to be involved, we would be happy to accompany you on this journey.

As a rule, the time and place of the burial are determined in cooperation with the undertaker (funeral director). Everything that needs to be done will be discussed during a preparation meeting. We are happy to visit you for this purpose. Possible costs are also discussed here.
